view remnants of a 700 year old Jewish society which once flourished there.
Of the 5 million people that once inhabited this area, there are now less than 5000 Jews and only one synagogue. Their visit to the Warsaw Ghetto helped put those numbers into proportion for the travelers.
They then continued to Triblinka and to Aushwitz Birkenua to view the museums now erected on the lands that were at one time concentration camps. They ended their trip with a glorious visit to Israel.
During the trip, Dr. Gary Romailis took 625 slides and Mr. Ted Zachs shot 7.5 hours of film. Bill Steward of RYBW Productions took these slides and footage and blended them together to create the compelling documentary "Beacon of Light". The famous actor Marion Eisman was hired to do the voice over.
The purpose of the trip and of the documentary to remember the past, to create a Jewish identity and to show what has been done to rebuild a homeland. The purpose was to show how important is it to maintain a strong Israel.
As the opening words of the documentary state, "Never again will this child walk bewildered steps to her doom. Our story is about Israel. Why we must keep Israel strong. For 2000 years Jews had no place they could call home. Now they have a homeland, Israel."
